50 hectares of self-regenerating land with selective planting
Wairau Summit is situated within the Waimamaku catchment on the northern side of the Waipoua Forest. This previously cleared 50 hectare reserve now supports regenerating species including rimu, totara, pate, gahnia, mahoe, manuka, kahikatea, karamu and various types of fern. Areas not self regenerating are scheduled for planting in 2025.
