60 hectares cleared land scheduled for large scale planting beginning 2020

Pukemiro Ridge is a 60 hectare block near the coast at Aranga, with steep slopes, rolling hills and a freshwater spring and creek. Areas vulnerable to erosion and water pollution have begun to be fenced off and planted with hardy nursery crop species.

We’re building our resources to carry out another large-scale reforesting project with the same vision that started the Millennium Forest. Our ambition for this section is for it to become a seamless extension of the neighbouring reserve, and eventually to form part of a new forest corridor all the way to the Waipoua Forest.
